I have 2 paintings to update with because I've been a little busy lately so hadn't managed to post sooner... but without further ado....

'Between the Earth & the stars'
Cordelia, also known as Creiddylad, is the Goddess of Spring & Summer flowers.
The daughter of the sea God Lir, she is traditionally celebrated on May 1 during the ancient ritual of Beltane which marks the beginning of Summer.

'Inner Journey'

Description: In meditation, travel to the inner realms, where Dragonflies play in magical forests; visit a deserted beach by sunset & speak with the Dolphins; or just drift peacefully with the stars. You will find all the answers that you seek, on your Inner Journey.

'Kuan Yin's Garden'
Watercolour, gold acrylic
140lb Watercolour paper

Kuan Yin (also Kwan Yin or Quan Yin) is the Buddhist Goddess of mercy & compassion.
She holds the traditional symbols of a Lotus flower in one hand & a vase in the other. This vase contains 'the water of life', which she is pouring into a lake of Lotus flowers.
She stands in her magical nightime garden. Lit only by the New Moon which represents new beginnings &  healing , or re-birth.
Butterflies & Dragonflies play in the moonlight, dancing amongst the flowers.

This painting was created especially for a friend, as a gift for her newly created 'Healing/ Reiki room'. Kuan Yin is often associated with Reiki practises & to have a picture of her in your home is said to bring luck & good fortune.

'Guardians Of The Ancient Grove'

"The Guardians watch over their sacred grove, in the magical, ancient lands of Cornwall. A mystical tree resides here, one that must never be discovered or harmed. This tree holds the secrets & life blood of Mother Earth."

'Morgaine Of The Faeries'

"~We could lose our way in this mist, wander off into the realms of faery & never return at all to this world...~"

~Mists Of Avalon~

Loosely based on the character Morgaine in the book 'Mists Of Avalon' by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

'Morgaine sits beneath the faery tree in greeting while the faeries & other creatures dance & play in delight, even Raven comes to pay a visit.  Moonflowers blossom in the silvery light & Morgaine tucks one playfully into her hair.'

I've recently been inspired by the book 'Mists Of Avalon' by Marion Zimmer Bradley & my latest painting is based on one of the characters. The linework is almost finished & I'll hopefully get to start painting shortly!

'White Tara'
11 x 14"
Watercolour, gold acrylic & gold glitter
140lb Watercolour paper

" Tara or Arya Tara,  is a female Buddha known for compassion, long life, healing and serenity; also known as The Wish-fulfilling Wheel, or Cintachakra. Tara is seen in many forms; the 2 most popular being Green Tara & White Tara.
The name Tara means 'star', therefore I have depicted a star shaped Lotus flower in the upper left corner & she is also sprinkling gold stars into the rainbow, which represents Tara assisting with the hopes & dreams of Mankind. The Lantern which is creating the rainbow shines the light of the Goddess down to earth.
The Pink Lotus flowers at her feet represent the highest spirtiual status possible, & also the way in which Tara was introduced to me. The flowers are in 3 stages of growth, seed, bud & blossom to represent past, present & future.
Tara is the Goddess of compassion & traditionally has seven eyes with which to see all the suffering in the world, four of which can be seen here. (2 in the usual place, 1 on the forehead & 1 in the palm of her hand. The other 3 are on her opposite hand & the soles of her feet)
Butterflies not only symbolise freedom & creativity, but they, along with the Dragonflies are a personal symbol within my life.
Below the painting I have written a traditional meditation chant to call upon Tara."

Ok...this is something I've been working on for a little while. It's quite a special painting to me & I plan to get it framed & hung on the wall asap!! :)
I've been very interested in Godesses/ Buddhism/ tibet lately & that has started to filter into my artwork.
I decided to paint a version of the Goddess White Tara. I liked my pencil sketch so much that I decided to scan it & add to my website before I painted it.... if you are offended by naked breasts then don't look.

'White Tara (sketch)'
10 x 14"

Tara or Arya Tara, also known as Jetsun Dolma in Tibetan, is a female Buddha known for compassion, long life, healing and serenity; also known as The Wish-fulfilling Wheel, or Cintachakra.
Many of the traditional symbols for Tara are included here from the Lotus flowers, to the rainbow being created by her lantern. These will be commented on in more depth with the finished painting.
